Hello everyone!
Part of the Review Challenge is to Review all of the Data sheets and Detachment Rules of the World Eaters, Thousands Sons and Death Guard. I have now completed all of the Datasheets but now I need to do the Detachment rules.
A New Season of Reviews - A Challenge accepted!
The nefarious trio of World Eaters, Death Guard and Thousand Sons are set to get their new Codexes next. Actually, the great FOUR are each getting their favourite Legion's new Codexes but Emperor's Children did not have an actual Index before.
Anyway. I was speaking to my friend @nicolaasmuller about how my Review posts might not make a lot of money for me, but that cumulatively and on average some of them do good and overall there is an average that at least means that there is good movement of income into the Hobby Fund and that it would grow from there.
We were throwing around some numbers and looking at the average of my last 10 Review Posts, 20 Review posts and 30 Review Posts and we could come up with a range of how much I should theoretically be making across a large sample size of completing the remainder of the reviews for the nefarious trio mentioned above.
So Nicolaas says to me something along the lines of: That would be pretty cool if you could do it in like, a month. Maybe do like 2 a day.
Alteration So @nicolaasmuller and I worked out that firstly - due to family obligations, I had missed out on some days not being able to blog at all and having no laptop with me and more on the way... and the fact that he had said 2x posts a day from the start would have made it a 40 day challenge. I shall adjust that number below going forward...
So I explained it would be a little bit more than that but sure... it would be cool... is that a challenge? And yeah... here I am... Challenge accepted. 😎
It is now Day 39 of the Challenge.
Totals so far: 70/70 Datasheets done, 3/3 Army Rules done, 4/6 Detachment Rules done. Total 77/79.

Army Rule Recap
Blessings of Khorne is when you roll eight D6's at the start of the Battle Round and then use the results of that roll to activate up to two Blessings for the remainder of the Battle Round.
Now you pick the Vessels of Wrath as your Detachment and then gain access to the below rules!
Detachment Rule - Wrath of Khorne
At the start of a Battle Round, you select a certain amount of models to become the Vessels of Wrath.
They are specific models from this list:
- WORLD EATERS CHARACTER (excluding EPIC HEROES)
- Eightbound Champion
- Exalted Eightbound Champion
- Khorne Berzerker Champion
- World Eaters Terminator Champion
You can select an appropriate number of models depending on the size of the battle:
1000pts - 2 models
2000pts - 3 models
3000pst - 4 models
These models become the Vessels of Wrath.
Select a Blessing of Khorne that is not active for your army this Battle Round. All the Vessels of Khorne benefit from this third Blessing.
Thoughts
Blessings of Khorne are often the best possible Blessings, based on your rolls at the time, for the given moment.
There is also the case of Angron being revived but you do not need to play Angron in every World Eaters army.
This Vessels of Wrath means you choose specifically what Blessing you did not roll for but you consider crucial for specific models are active for a Battle Round.
These can be offensive or Defensive.
Tactically good, but not as simple as the Berzerker Warband.
Enhancements
Every Detachment has their own Enhancements to put on Characters. You cannot put 2 Enhancements on 1 hero, Epic Heros cannot take theim either and you are limited to 3 of the 4.
Here are the Enhancements for the Vessels of Wrath:
Archslaughterer - 25pts
Add 1 to the Armour Penetration of Melee Weapons wielded by this model. If this model is a Vessel of Wrath, improve the Damage by 1 as well.
This is superb for killing big Monsters and Vehicles!
Vox-Diabolus - 20pts
Each time the bearer's unit destroys an enemy unit in melee, roll and dice, add +1 if the bearer is a Vessel of Wrath. On a 4+ gain 1CP.
Gaining command points are always a great way to get to victory!
Gateways to Glory - 10pts
Daemon Princes and Mounted Characters only. When this model moves, it can move horizontally through models and terrain features as though they were not there. This can take them through enemy units but it cannot end within engagement range of those units (So not within 1")
This is a scary ability for 10pts allowing a Khorne lord on Juggernought or a Daemon Prince to phase through walls! You cannot even wall-block it as it goes through your models too! Ouch!
Avenger’s Crown - 15pts
The bearer has a 2+ Fights on Death.
This makes sure that the model is not wasted because the enemy target has a Fights First rule.
Stratagems
Stratagems are used in the battle as an elective rule that can be employed in crucial moments. All armies have access to Universal Stratagems but each Detachment has their very own Stratagems that they can use.
This is what the Vessels of Wrath can do.
Aspire to Infamy - 1CP
Used in the Fight phase on Khorne Berzerkers or Jakhals that have not yet fought. They need to be within 8" of a Character.
All Non-Characters in the unit gain +1 Strength and +1 Armour Penetration for melee weapons till the end of the phase.
Good for clearing out other Space Marines.
Overshadowed by None - 1CP
Used in the Fight Phase on World Eaters Infantry, World Eaters Mounted or Daemon Prince units. When striking a Vehicle or a Monster, gain a re-roll to Wound until the end of the phase.
Great ability for killing something big.
Punish the Craven - 1CP
Used in your opponent's fight phase, when you have World Eaters Infantry or a Daemon Prince and the enemy tries to Fall Back from that combat.
That enemy must take a Desperate escape test and if the unit in combat is a Vessel of Wrath, the Desperate escape is done at a -1 to the roll.
When a unit is Battle shocked or surrounded they need to take Desperate Escape Tests. This strat forces Desperate Escape. You roll a dice PER Model, on a 1 and a 2, that model dies. In the case of the above, running from a Vessel of Wrath means 1-3 dead!
Meet Force With Force - 1CP
Used in the enemy shooting phase on a unit that has lost more than one wound to those enemy shots. It can be used on World Eaters Infantry, Mounted or Daemon Prince units.
That unit can do a Blood Surge. This is the Khorne Berzerker rule. Khorne Berzerkers get a re-roll on their Blood Surge.
The unit moves D6" towards the nearest enemy unit, they can use this move to move into Engagement Range of the enemy.
Brazen Contempt - 1CP
Used in your Opponent's Shooting phase.
Until the end of the phase is the Strength of the attack is Higher than the toughness of the target, subtract 1 from the wound roll. If the target is a Vessel of Wrath then it is just -1 to wound roll.
This is a great reactive toughness buff.
Gory Dedication - 1CP
Used at the end of the Fight Phase on a unit that has just destroyed a target in melee near an objective you control.
That Objective is now sticky and remains under your control even if you do not leave models near it. This is great for the unit to move on and do other things.
Conclusion
The Vessels of Wrath ability and Enhancements are really good and interesting but I do feel that this is an army for a non-Epic Character World Eaters force. Pretty decent Stratagems, some good reactive and good offensive strats.
