The headline or subject line is everything. It is your first line of contact, and potentially - YOUR LAST.
If you want it to get somewhere with your audience, it must be a HEART STOPPING HEADLINE.
Let's discuss how to make sure that happens.
Headlines matters whether it is a Steemit Post, a blog post, press release, a video upload - ANYTHING.
A bad one will ensure your story is never read. A great one will draw people in magnetically. They'll keep reading until you stop writing.
Here are some points to keep in mind when writing a headline:
The main keyword should preferably be the first word in the title. Otherwise it's harder to rank in Google & in Steemit (this is true for all pages, not just posts here on this platform). The cool thing about Steemit is it's inherent SEO (search engine optimization) quality. Take advantage of it folks, it isn't every day you get to punch a golden ticket on Google.
Include your brand name in the title if possible. Here's one of the simplest reputation management tricks in the book. Over time, your posts will start ranking for your brand name and often knock down any negative feedback you don't want there, or show all the great feedback you DO have there! Brilliant!
The title must be newsworthy or interesting. Otherwise, your press release will likely be rejected by the audience. Newsworthy titles also happen to get more clicks, so it always helps. People are addicted to learning what's new.
The title cannot be sensational or come off as biased. Otherwise, it will again likely be received less than you hoped (there are exceptions, but you must get good at it). Your customers and fellow Steemers can also sniff it from a mile away. Create great posts that aren't click bait, or you risk them never voting for you again if you do it too often.
And, most important:
The title must be fascinating! Grab the reader by the throat! Otherwise, it won't get many clicks (even if it is ranking in Google.)
So, taking the time to write a GREAT post title is truly worth the effort. A successful steemit post can bring incredible amounts of business. It can not only generate revenue and income right here on Steemit, but it ranks FANTASTICALLY on Google.
