Now that I'm posting on a Thursday around here, the week will seem shorter to me since the following Monday will be very close. And it is that I was trying to organize myself in terms of time to resume my projects, but the weather we are having in Buenos Aires did not help much. But as the truth is that it is always better "late than never", I finally appear to show you a bit of my progress in the WIP projects that I proposed for this challenge. Perhaps it is little, but it is honest work 😁.
Ahora que estoy publicando un jueves por aquí, la semana me va a parecer más corta ya que voy a tener muy cerca el lunes siguiente. Y es que estaba tratanto de organizarme en cuanto a tiempo para retomar mis proyectos, pero el clima que estamos teniendo en Buenos Aires no ayudaron mucho. Pero como lo cierto es que siempre es mejor "tarde que nunca", al fin aparezco para mostrarles un poco de mis avances en los proyectos WIP que me propuse para este desafío. Quizás es poco, pero es trabajo honesto 😁.
Last week I was visiting my friend's house in the province of Córdoba, more than 800 km from my house. We spent a few great days in the middle of the mountain, although somewhat disconnected because the internet signal was very poor. Since my initially planned stay was extended a couple more days, I couldn't participate in our last sewing Monday, which now makes me think that I'm behind in these projects (bad for my head, which already thinks that the weather won't be enough for everything I set out to do 😅).
La semana pasada estuve de visita en la casa de mi amigo en la provincia de Córdoba, a más de 800 km de mi casa. Pasamos unos días geniales en medio de la montaña, aunque algo desconectados porque la señal de internet era muy pobre. Como mi estadia planeada inicialmente se extendió un par de días más, no pude participar de nuestro último lunes de costura, lo que ahora me hace pensar que estoy atrasada en estos proyectos (mal para mi cabeza que ya piensa que el tiempo no va a ser suficiente para todo lo que me propuse hacer) 😅.
And as if that weren't enough, when I was back home I was met with more humid weather and a forecast of rain for the whole week. If you follow my blog you will have seen photos of my sewing machine, an old machine completely made of metal, which I avoid using on humid days because since everything around it is wet (mainly the floors and our shoes), I am afraid of receiving a shock electrical (ok, I don't know how likely this is but I still don't want to risk that happening) 😂.
Y como si eso fuera poco, cuando estuve de vuelta en casa me encontré con el clima más húmedo y un pronóstico de lluvia para toda la semana. Si siguen mi blog habrán visto fotos de mi máquina de coser, una máquina antigua completamente de metal, la cual evito usar en los días de humedad porque como alrededor está todo mojado (principalmente los pisos y nuestros zapatos), tengo miedo de recibir una descarga eléctrica (ok, no sé que tan probable sea esto pero igual no quiero arriesgarme a que eso pase) 😂.
So in order not to keep falling further behind with all this, I decided to forget about the machine for a moment and continue cutting fabrics while I wait for the weather to dry out a bit. As for my recycled skirt (which is taking longer than I thought), everything seems to be going well for now. Using the fabric from one of the legs I cut out some strips that would work as a belt. I abandoned the idea of putting buttons on it because I think with that cutout in the front and the bow it will be enough attention for that part 😅.
Así que para no seguir atrasándome más con todo esto decidí olvidar la máquina por un momento y seguir recortando telas mientras espero que el clima se seque un poco. En cuanto a mi pollera reciclada (la cuál está siendo más interminable de lo que pensaba), todo parece que va a salir bien por ahora. Usando la tela de una de las piernas recorté unas tiras que funcionaran como cinturón. Abandoné la idea de ponerle botones porque creo que con ese recorte en el frente y el moño será suficiente atención para esa parte 😅.
I also cut out the small pieces for what will be the belt loops and I was psyching myself up for the next step to this which will be a lot of iron to keep those pieces in place and be able to sew them neatly. Once you can sew everything, it remains to do the bottom hem (which is also going to need a lot of ironing) and I think that's it. Hopefully next week it's ready ❣️.
También recorté la pequeñas piezas para lo que serán los pasacintos y me fui mentalizando para el siguiente paso a esto que será mucha plancha para mantener esas piezas en su lugar y poder coserlas prolijas. Una vez que pueda coser todo, restará hacer el dobladillo de abajo (el cual también va a necesitar un montón de plancha) y creo que sería todo. Con mucha suerte, la semana que viene está lista ❣️.
Then, I went on to the other project that seems easy to me too and it is one of the cushions with the embroidery that I did more than a year ago. I was planning to replicate the same cushion with flap cover that I made some time ago, so hopefully I started looking for the molds that I had made that time AND I FOUND THEM. This was a great miracle because when it comes to molds I am not tidy at all and generally they are all disposable 😂.
Luego, pasé al otro proyecto que me parece fácil también y se trata de uno de los almohadones con los bordados que hice hace más de un año. Tenía pensado replicar el mismo almohadón con funda de solapa que hice hace un tiempo, así que esperanzada me puse a buscar los moldes que había hecho esa vez Y LOS ENCONTRÉ. Esto fue un gran milagro porque en cuanto a moldes no soy nada ordenada y generalmente todos son descartables jaja 😂.
For this project I cut all the necessary pieces, including the internal ones that will form the cushion and a long strip to form a ruffle around it. This combination of fabrics is really cute; This project is going to be for my friend but I will surely have to fight not to keep it for myself 😂.
Para este proyecto recorté todas las piezas necesarias, incluso las internas que formarán el almohadón y una larga tira para formar un volado alrededor. Esta combinación de telas es realmente linda; este proyecto va a ser para mi amiga pero seguro tendré que luchar para no quedarmelo yo 😂.
One of the tips that my seamstress friend gave me when I started with all this was to divide the days into moulding, cutting and then sewing. Of course, I rarely listened to him and I do all the things on the same day (😂) but I think that doing this is more comfortable than concentrating on several things at the same time. And as I write this, the weather seems to be improving and the sun is coming out. If it stays that way, hopefully I'll move faster with all of this. I'll cross my fingers 😅.
Uno de los consejos que me dió mi amiga costurera cuando inicié con todo esto fue que divida los días en trazado de moldería, corte y luego confección. Por supuesto pocas veces le hice caso y hago todas las cosas el mismo día (😂) pero creo que hacer esto es más cómodo que concentrarte en varias cosas al mismo tiempo. Y mientras escribo esto, el clima pareciera estar mejorando y el sol saliendo. Si así se mantiene, con suerte avanzaré más rápido con todo esto. Cruzaré los dedos 😅.
