Generally, Mondays are a bit chaotic because being the beginning of the week you have to adjust to the routine and the things to do, but yesterday in particular was twice Monday. After the winter break, the school I work at reopened and we had any number of students desperate to learn how to do their homework and turn it in on time. This took a bit out of my sewing time in the afternoon, so I had to stay up until the wee hours of the morning on this, but I finally finished one of my WIP projects 馃槂.
Generalmente los lunes son un poco ca贸ticos porque al ser el inicio de semana hay que acomodarse a la rutina y a las cosas que hacer, pero en particular ayer fue doblemente lunes. Despu茅s de terminar el receso escolar de invierno, el instituto en el que trabajo volvi贸 a abrir sus puertas y tuvimos cualquier cantidad de alumnos desesperados por aprender a hacer sus tareas y entregarlas en tiempo y forma. Esto me sac贸 un poco del tiempo que ten铆a destinado a la costura en la tarde, as铆 que tuve que quedarme hasta altas horas de la madrugada con esto pero al fin termin茅 uno de mis proyectos WIP 馃槂.
Initially I had considered this project as the simplest of all and in the end it was not so simple. In the middle I had some mistakes that led me to undo what I had done, I wasted a lot of time on this but I think the important thing is to get to the end. Anddddd I was also in a hurry to finish this skirt because I have a birthday on Saturday and I wanted this to be part of my outfit 馃榿.
Inicialmente hab铆a planteado este proyecto como el m谩s sencillo de todos y al final no lo fue tanto. En medio tuve algunos errores que me llevaron a deshacer lo que hab铆a hecho, perd铆 bastante tiempo en esto pero creo que lo importante es llegar al final. Yyy tambi茅n estaba apurada en terminar esta pollera porque el s谩bado tengo un cumplea帽os y quer铆a que esto sea parte de mi outfit 馃榿.

In my last installment on this project I had managed to get all the scissor work done: I cut out all the necessary pieces for the belt and the belt loops using the fabric that was left over from the ex's legs -pants. This time it was the turn of the iron: sometimes I deny having to iron but it is extremely necessary for the fabric to be firm when sewing 鉂ｏ笍.
En mi 煤ltima entrega sobre este proyecto hab铆a logrado adelantar todo el trabajo de tijeras: recort茅 todas las piezas necesarias para el cintur贸n y los pasacintos utiizando la tela que me hab铆a sobrado de las piernas del ex-pantal贸n. Esta vez fue el turno de la plancha: a veces reniego de tener que planchar pero es sumamente necesario para que la tela quede bien firme a la hora de coser 鉂ｏ笍.
In my mind I imagined a skirt with a big bow, but since the waistband of this skirt is very small, the best option was to make a thin belt and small belt loops. All of this turned into a very thin fabric that I had to hem very tiny. Making a belt of more than 2 meters seemed like a good idea at first, but I suffered a bit when the ironing seemed endless 馃槀.
En mi mente imaginaba una pollera con un gran lazo, pero debido a que la pretina de esta pollera es muy peque帽a, la mejor opci贸n fue hacer un cinto delgado y pasacintos peque帽os. Todo esto se transform贸 en una tela muy finita a la que tuve que hacerle unos dobladillos diminutos. Hacer un cinto de m谩s de 2 metros me pareci贸 buena idea al principio, pero sufr铆 un poco cuando el planchado parec铆a interminable 馃槀.
Last time I had not been able to sew anything because the days were very humid and I am afraid to use the machine like that. As it is all metal, the vapor in the air condenses on it and remains wet, so it is better not to risk an electric shock. Our good weather returned on Friday, but it was only last night at dawn that I got to work on this. It remained for me to join the back of the skirt, the triangle in the front and hem it. The good thing about monochrome projects is that everything is super neat because the seams are hardly noticeable 鉂わ笍.
La vez pasada no hab铆a podido coser nada porque los d铆as estaban muy h煤medos y me da miedo usar la m谩quina as铆. Al ser toda de metal, el vapor del aire condensa sobre ella y queda como mojada, entonces mejor no arriesgarse a una descarga el茅ctrica. Nuestro buen clima volv铆o el viernes, pero reci茅n anoche a la madrugada puse manos a la obra con esto. Me restaba unir la parte trasera de la pollera, el tri谩ngulo en el frente y hacerle el dobladillo. Lo bueno de los proyectos monocrom谩ticos es que todo queda super prolijo porque las costuras casi no se notan 鉂わ笍.
And sewing the belt and the belt loops, this is how this skirt with a bow turned out. I liked the final result, although I couldn't iron it well because all the cuts inside it are marked. I guess this is one of those "iron on your body" garments, one of my favorites 馃槄.
Y cosidos el cinto y los pasacintos, as铆 qued贸 esta pollera con lazo. Me gust贸 el resultado final, aunque no pude plancharla bien porque se marcan todos los recortes que tiene por dentro. Supongo que esta es una de estas prendas que "se te planchan en el cuerpo", una de mis favoritas 馃榾.
I love the gabardine fabric because it never loses its original color and it is very elegant. I really liked this final result, now I have another skirt for my collection of skirts. And as if that weren't enough, I received another pair of pants with a beautiful fabric as a gift, but I don't like the way it looks on me either, so there is a high probability that it will also end up being a skirt. Call me the crazy skirt recycler and let history judge me 馃槄.
La tela de gabardina me encanta porque nunca pierde su color original y es demasiado elegante. Me gust贸 mucho este resultado final, ahora tengo otra pollera m谩s para mi colecci贸n de polleras. Y como si fuera poco, recib铆 como regalo otro pantal贸n con una tela hermosa pero que tampoco me gusta como me queda, as铆 que hay altas probabilidades de que tambi茅n termine siendo una pollera. Ll谩menme la loca recicladora de polleras y dejen que la historia me juzgue 馃槄.
