Ruleset Focus

In this week's Battle Mage Secrets, we shall dive into exploring the HOLY PROTECTION
ruleset.
The ruleset grants all units the DIVINE SHIELD
ability, negating the first instance of damage taken. However, do note that monsters with this ability won't be receiving this ability twice. To optimize this ruleset, it is recommended to fill all 6 slots of your lineup for maximum benefits 😁

ruleset.

ruleset for another time.

Summoner, Lorna Shine
When we see the HOLY PROTECTION
ruleset in play, one particular Summoner naturally comes to our mind. This ruleset could be artificially created for your team through the use of Lorna Shine, the Life Summoner from the Dice Edition.
With only 3 mana cost, Lorna Shine bestows the team with the DIVINE SHIELD
ability, resembling the HOLY PROTECTION
ruleset. This popular Summoner is commonly used in lower leagues and is currently exclusive to the Wild format.
The Battle
While fulfilling my responsibilities in the Splinterlands scholarship account I have with Balthazar, bltzr-wizard-729, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the HOLY PROTECTION
ruleset. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's start by examining the ruleset implemented in this battle. This is a rather straightforward battle with only 2 rulesets. The first one being the Close Range ruleset where it allows all Ranged attacks to be used from the first position. Next, we have the main highlight of this week's challenge, the HOLY PROTECTION
ruleset which we have already discussed extensively in the above sections. The battle enforces a mana restriction of 48 and ban the use of the Death Splinter.

Summoner, Grandmaster Rathe
Except for the Unprotected ruleset, adding Grandmaster Rathe to your lineup can greatly enhance your team's endurance in any battle. With his +1 Armor and Void Armor abilities working in harmony, he offers valuable defense. Although Grandmaster Rathe's Amplify ability is commonly utilized for countering opponents when paired with the Counterspell, Thorns, and Return Fire abilities, his defensive strengths were the primary reason for choosing him as the Summoner for this particular battle ✌️

First Position, Uriel The Purifier
Uriel The Purifier proved to be an outstanding selection as the primary tank, thanks to its impressive health and armor attributes. With the Flying ability, Uriel The Purifier had a 25% chance of evading attacks from monsters lacking this trait. Moreover, its Heal ability was invaluable, restoring up to 4 health per round, which, when combined with its already high health, made it a reliable and sturdy tank throughout the battle 💪

Second Position, Djinn Renova
Whenever I use the Life Splinter, Djinn Renova is among my favorite cards to include in the lineup. Its impressive Magic damage, combined with decent health and speed stats, makes it a reliable choice. What sets Djinn Renova apart is its Triage ability, which proves invaluable when I position Iziar (see Third Position) in the backline. This setup allows Djinn Renova to efficiently heal my team, keeping them healthy and highly effective in battle 😝

Third Position, Iziar
Iziar is the cornerstone of my lineup, and its role is vital for my strategy to succeed. To fully unleash its capabilities, reaching Level 3 is essential (was lucky to get 2 copies of Gold Foil), as it unlocks the Martyr ability. Its Taunt ability allows me to strategically position it between the monsters I want to empower when Iziar perishes. Additionally, its remarkable durability, thanks to high health and Void ability, makes it a resilient force on the battlefield 😎

Fourth Position, Time Mage
Time Mage is an outstanding low-cost monster in the game, with a mere mana cost of 4, it possesses impressive stats such as 3 Magic attack, 5 Speed, and 4 Health. Its Slow debuff ability grants the team a Speed advantage during the battle. Moreover, its Rust ability proves invaluable in the team setups, as it can remove 2 Armor from the enemy's team. Placing it beside Iziar is a strategic move, as I hope for Time Mage to gain further stat boosts, turning it into an absolute beast during the battle 😜

Fifth Position, Adelade Brightwing
Selecting Adelade Brightwing is pivotal for the success of my strategy as well. As mentioned earlier, the Resurrect ability harmonizes perfectly with HOLY PROTECTION
, enabling the DIVINE SHIELD
to be reapplied and potentially granting my lineup a double stats boost through the Martyr ability if Iziar is the resurrected unit. Moreover, the Repair ability complements the +1 armor buff from Grandmaster Rathe, enhancing my team's survivability during the battle 😁

Last Position, Dax Paragon
To be frank, Dax Paragon made its way into my lineup mainly due to me running out of mana after selecting the essential cast members for my battle strategy. With only 2 mana cost remaining, I chose Dax Paragon as it possesses an ability that could prove useful in the battle. The Affliction ability, once inflicted on the target, prevents the unit from Healing, potentially becoming a decisive factor that could alter the battle's outcome 😇
The Analysis

Given the vast array of Splinters available in this battle, I wasn't expecting to face the Earth Splinter. However, my opponent's luck ran dry when matched against my well-prepared lineup that just so happened to be highly resistant to Magic, thanks to Grandmaster Rathe's Void Armor ability and Iziar's Void ability 😅
Throughout the battle, my team executed swift attacks, quickly breaking through the DIVINE SHIELD
ability and eliminating the opponent's monsters one by one. The Affliction ability, initially a secondary consideration in my team selection, turned out to be highly effective. Depriving the enemy's units of any Healing capabilities, the battle concluded in the blink of an eye 🤙
