Hope you are having a lovely start of the week! š
For I, the week is starting a little bit nostalgic, with a throwback to when I played the game called TREE which it happened a few years ago but which is, perhaps, one of the few games that will remain so important and memorable for me.
I don't know how many of you spent their childhood at the countryside with their grandparents, but for those of you who did it, most likely you will understand a little bit better this game more than the others, especially if you used to have a tree to climb and spend time into, either alone, with family, a cat, or friends, days after days, years after years.
Most likely this already sounds a little nostalgic, but it's also a short introduction to get you in the mood of the game instead of starting this over with what the game is about because it's not that kind of cute game you play with a smile on your face. At least this is not what happened to me because I ended up crying with big tears and looking at life differently ever since. š¢
And I know, maybe some of you won't understand the impact some games have on people, but they really are a different kind of art which strikes quite hard sometimes but it also teaches you a lot of things that would be hard to learn in other circumstances.
Anyway, TREE is a FREE game on PC that can be played on the Steam platform by simply adding the game into your library and don't wait too much for it to be installed because it's a very short game. And when I say short, I mean it, because it takes only 15 minutes to be played.
Now maybe you will ask what game is that which only takes 15 minutes to be completed - believe me, I played thousands of games, some which are tens of hours long, some hundreds, and I even have some games with a few thousand of hours on record. Absolutely none of these, haven't touched my heart the way TREE did.
So to get into the subject, TREE is a game that presents the relationship between a boy and his tree. Everything starts as a simple connection but after returning there every single day of his entire life, everything turns out into a lot deeper story. It's actually what I call an honest friendship which lasts a lifetime. š³
If we look on the technical aspects, there is not too much gaming you can do in this game, because you are just going to collect some apples from the tree, or click here and there to move to the next chapter (of life), but I think this is far from the main reason why this game was created because even the developers themselves have the next sentences on the description of the game: A short story that may, or may not, have a meaning behind it; And remember - spend time with your family whenever you can.
The dialogue is also missing in the game because it's not meant to share a story from what you are reading or listening to, so there is only going to be some songs in the background that are played along the whole 15 minutes of the gameplay.
To make this a lot clear, you are literally going to get through the whole stages of life of a person, which all of us is going through sooner or later. Exactly - from beginning till the end.
I tried not to attach too many images to the article because since it's a short game, this could turn up with a ton of spoilers, so if you are a PC gamer, I'd rather recommend you to take a break of 15 minutes from anything you are playing and start this on you computer. I'm sure you won't regret! š
I actually found out about this game from my sister when one day I ran into her room and found her crying. Just as it's normal, I was a little bit worried to find out what was wrong with her, but then she showed me this game. I thought that maybe she had a moment when she was a little bit more emotional than usual but as soon as I completed it, I understood perfectly everything. š
The game comes with 3 achievements only, because as the developers are also saying, this is not that kind of game you play to complete it 100% or for having fun, but rather of keeping your eyes open for the reality too. The single achievement I haven't got was to collect 150 apples where I only had 107. š
Conclusions š¤
If you want a better title for this game, because the current one is not really saying too much about the action from it, I'd call it The Meaning Of Life because that's exactly what you are going through with the 15 minutes it takes to be completed.
In other words, it's a beautifully made short tale about life with a few interactive sequences that will touch your heart more than you expect and which will take you through the whole cycle of life where the TREE represents the life everyone of us is having.
TREE is a game that shows there is no need for any dialogue because it will share a lot more through graphics and a chill playlist that will calm you down and transpose it into a video game that presents your life. ā£ļø
This game is also a proof that you don't need to spend tens of hours into a game, nor wait a few years for the developers to make a good game, because if you have the idea for a good game, then you get thousands of fans even with just a 15 minutes long walkthrough of the game.
Did you play it? š
After getting a little bit emotional and even having a tear tickling my left eye only by watching the screenshots taken back then, I'm really curious to find out if you played this game or if you are interested to try it out?
I don't know if this game is also on the consoles, but I'm looking forward to hear the thoughts of everyone reading this post. š¤
