Hey everyone! How did you spend the weekend? Any cool games discovered that are worth being played these days?
Personally, I celebrated Easter together with my family and my boyfriend but as I like beginning every week with a game that I played in the past and I would like more people to know about, either if it comes with positive or negative feedback, this time I want to talk about a game that I played many years ago but which saved a special spot in my heart, called Life is Strange.
I'm sure this is a game that perhaps many of you heard about because it's actually the first game from a nice series that is worth every penny even though I didn't manage to complete all of them by now, but this first game comes with even a remastered version that was released on 1st February 2022 which could make it a little bit more close to what people enjoy playing in 2022 since it was first released in 2015 and quite a few things changed since then.
However, my review is based on the original game as I still didn't put my hands on the remastered version, but which I still remember as I would have played it yesterday. š
Life is Strange is one of those games where you make decisions and the whole action changes depending on the picks made by you, so do expect to see lots of twists and action that will make you quickly realize if you made the right decision or not.
This is actually the first game I played where I had to make decisions and it helped me figure out pretty fast that I enjoy playing this genre of games more than I expected, so if you are a fan of this mode, I'm sure you will have a blast playing Life is Strange.
Anyway, just as the name of the game, do expect to encounter lots of strange situations, ups and downs that will count heavier than expected, but also lots of emotions that you will feel from the very beginning of the game.
The game starts with actually the situation that you will meet further in the game because this one has a little SF in it with powers of rewinding moments and changing your decisions, but the longer you get through the game the more you'll realize that sometimes is better to just leave the things as they happened because it's not always the best to change their course even if it sounds like a good plan.
Even if you are going to play with Max, there are actually two main characters in the game, Max and her good friend Chloe which might turn out into a really interesting story between the two depending on your decisions.
However, I'll hold my excitement to write about that since I guess there are enough people who haven't played the game yet and I wouldn't like to destroy someone's interest in playing this masterpiece.
Being a game based on the lives of two teenagers, I think we can all expect to see lots of things adolescents go through, from stupid mistakes to dangers at every step but also disappointments and fake friendships. But what's the most important part is to always pay attention to the story and small details because they will make the difference when having to make a big decision.
Even if this can't really be seen in the pictures attached, and that because I don't want to reveal any spoilers, you will have to take small decisions but also these which, frankly saying, you might cause the death of a person or save it from doing anything stupid. There are literally endless things that can happen in this game and nothing from my experience can be the same with your experience playing Life is Strange because we all have our own way of seeing things and making decisions so the story will be pretty much different for all of us. Which I really love.
Anyway, what mainly starts as a pretty interesting game with some students living their life, the things will escalate quickly with way too big problems for so many teens, but also with dangers that could change the whole story and which are actually going to test out how good you are taking decisions under pressure.
Even if there are just 5 episodes of the game that you can purchase separately or as a bundle, they all present separate aspects of the game and life in general, but which are well linked to each other to create a nice story that I enjoyed every minute of it even if the whole walkthrough takes around 15 hours to complete the game.
Personally, I was playing this game in the same time with my sister and I was so surprised to see her getting different steps in the game than me because of the decisions made differently, so I ended up playing the game again to see another point of view from the many that you can explore in the game.
Though, a thing that I noticed in the game being subtle discussed, is a sensitive subject that perhaps I'll approach in the review for another game of the series which I'm sure will raise lots of opinions from all sides, but which I found a cool way of teaching people and even support those in needs.
I know this review sounds a little bit general with no details on the decisions I took in the game, but just as I always say, I'm a person who tries to stay away from spoilers until I have my own experience playing that game, so in my turn, I try not to divulge spoilers either. But I'd be very happy to discuss more about the game in the comments section for those interested in sharing their gaming experiences or with these that have more questions about the whole game.
Conclusions š¤
Being a game where choices matter, I like the vast area of exploring new twists, endings and situations for every decision taken differently, because is far from the other games that share the same tag but which usually come with just 2-3 situations to get through. This one comes with a total of 7 different endings.
The graphics are very cool and create the perfect match with the soundtrack that I always find very important in this kind of games.
Life is Strange is one of those games that have no death in my opinion, being perfect to be played anytime, no matter if you do it in 2015 or 2035.
Did you play it? š
Since it's a pretty old game I'll assume that it's already known by some of you so I am really curious to find out your thoughts about your experience playing Life is Strange. On the same line, for those who didn't play it yet, did it stir any interest to try it in the near future?
