Three years that my digital home exists. Yesterday I started the celebration because I ran a marathon with Hive as a sponsor; a dream I had had for a long time.
Carrying the responsibility of representing Hive in one of the most participated sporting events in the country, only surpassed by another race; it was very exciting. From nerves, to the joy of arriving and the euphoria to continue running in addition to the pain, was part of the salad of emotions experienced.
Something that distracted me in a good way was handing out Hive wristbands to the cheering crowd. At times when thoughts of giving up begin to creep in, focusing on the fact that you are showing your brand to others can be very beneficial.
One thing that was a little disappointing was that only one person participated in the Giveaway, out of almost a hundred wristbands given out. Another point that surprised me a lot is that no one from the Hive community in Caracas went to support.
On the way I saw @erilej and getting a hiver running is exciting. I hope she participates in the contest.
Race
I wanted to deny the fact that I wasn't prepared to run 42k, I wanted to make my mind trick my body, but deep down it didn't know how to do it right. I paid dearly for my lack of training, which was greatly influenced by my trip to Spain. I thought I would train there, but I still don't have that much discipline to choose exercise over tapas and wine XD.
I came from running a maximum of 25k and arrive destroyed. That day of the marathon I felt good and rested. I started slowly. Not arriving so early meant that I hardly warmed up or stretched, so I used the first kilometers for that.
From kilometer 7 I started to increase the speed a little, without exaggerating because I had to manage my legs well.
I reached kilometer 25 where @enmy was waiting for me at our first meeting point. There I would have everything I needed. I put some cream on my legs and continued. I felt good, much better than in previous days when I reached that distance. I also think I rested a lot and could have cooled down.
Four kilometers later my destruction began. My legs did not respond, the pain was intense. I tried to get my mind to tell my body that nothing was happening and for a while I succeeded, the body reacted, but soon succumbed again. So until I could not take it anymore and walked from kilometer 31 to the next meeting point with @enmy at 35.
There was no way I was going to stop walking and start running again. The leg cramps were bad. Knees were broken and I couldn't stand my feet. By this time I was no longer thinking about running times, I had given up hope of improving them. My new thought was to give up and give in.
I struggled for five kilometers with that thought. In the meantime the time kept ticking along with other runners cheering me on as they passed me. If I wanted to finish, I had to get there before 12:00 or 6 hours into the race.
Walking took a lot of time, but I only thought that it was the only way to get there. I added up the time and the remaining kilometers to see if I could do the math. Then I arrived at the meeting point with @enmy and she came running to me so I wouldn't wait any longer.
Another of my thoughts as I walked, was whether to change my shoes or continue with the same ones. It would be a key decision as there would be no going back. That was the last point where I would see Enmy and what was left was the finish line.
My decision was to change my shoes. I chose to wear more comfortable and soft ones. These do not support the foot well and can cause injury; however my feet were very beat up and I thought they would appreciate a rest.
The shoes I wore from the start are new and firm. While they are comfortable, they also keep the foot secure.
On top of that I put a lot more cream on my legs. This helped me a lot. The decision to change shoes was the right one. My feet said: THANK YOU....
After 200 meters from the point with Enmy, I started to run smoothly. I felt a miraculous relief. I could not believe it, it was like something unreal. I felt almost no pain and increased the pace.
I was so far behind that some of the staff on the bike were asking me if I was okay. One of them told me that the ambulance was coming 2 kilometers behind me. At that moment I felt less pain and I started to speed up. The ambulance won't reach me! I said XD.
So I was counting kilometers until I reached the final stretch, where I ran at full speed with my usual spint. I felt a tremendous pride.
Defeatist thoughts went through my mind a thousand times. Even at the end the typical "but it was your worst time" tried to take the party away from me. I didn't listen to him, because that experience was unique. I rose like the Phoenix Bird. There was no way I was going to run again and I did. My legs responded after giving up and just for the finish.
Now seeing that I came within five minutes of being last in my category, I feel prouder and it may seem crazy, but I passed those five in the last kilometers.
I was nine minutes away from being out of the classification. I made it.

Carrera
Quise negar el hecho que no estaba preparado para correr 42k, quise hacer que mi mente engañara a mi cuerpo, pero en el fondo no supo hacerlo bien. Pagué caro mi falta de entrenamiento, que mucho influyo mi viaje a España. Pensé que entrenaría allá, pero todavía no tengo tanta disciplina para elegir el ejercicio a las tapas y el vino XD.
Venía de correr un máximo de 25k y llegar destruido. Ese día del maratón me sentía bien y descansado. Comencé despacio. El hecho no llegar tan temprano hizo que casi no calentara ni estirara, así que usé los primero kilómetros para eso.
Desde el kilómetro 7 empecé a aumentar un poco la velocidad, sin exagerar porque tenía que administrar bien mis piernas.
Llegué al kilómetro 25 dónde me esperaba @enmy en nuestro primer punto de encuentro. Ahí tendría todo lo necesario. Me puse un poco de crema en las piernas y seguí. Me sentí bien, mucho mejor que en días previos cuando llegaba a esa distancia. También pienso que descansé mucho y me pude haber enfriado.

Caminar me quitó mucho tiempo, pero ya solo pensaba en que era la única forma de llegar. Sumaba el tiempo y los kilómetros que faltaban para ver si me daban las cuentas. En eso llego el punto de encuentro con @enmy y ella se acercó corriendo para que yo no esperara más.
Otro de mis pensamientos mientras caminaba, era si me cambiaba los zapatos o seguía con los mismos. Sería una decisión clave, ya que no habría marcha atrás. Ese era el último punto donde vería a Enmy y lo que quedaba era la meta.
Mi decisión fue cambiarme los zapatos. Elegí usar más cómodos y blandos. Estos no sostienen bien el pie y pueden causar lesión; sin embargo mis pies estaban muy golpeados y pensé que agradecerían descanso.
Los zapatos que usé desde el inicio son nuevos y firmes. Aunque son cómodos, también mantienen el pie seguro.
Además de eso me eché mucha más crema en las piernas. Esto me ayudó bastante. La decisión de cambiar de calzado fue acertada. Mis pies dijeron: GRACIAS...
A los 200 metros del punto con Enmy, comencé a correr suave. Sentí un alivio milagroso. No podía creerlo, era como algo irreal. Casi no sentía ningún dolor y aumenté el ritmo.
Estaba tan retrasado que parte del staff en moto me preguntaban si estaba bien. Uno me dijo que la ambulancia venía a 2 kilómetros detrás de mí. En ese momento sentí menos dolor y comencé a apurar. ¡No me alcanzará la ambulancia! dije XD.
Así fui descontando kilómetros hasta llegar a la recta final, donde corrí a toda velocidad con mi acostumbrado spint. Sentía un orgullo tremendo.
Pensamientos derrotistas pasaron mil veces por mi mente. Incluso al final el típico "pero fue tu peor tiempo" intentó quitarme la fiesta. No le hice caso, porque esa experiencia fue única. Me levanté como el Ave Fenix. Era imposible que volviera a correr y lo hice. Mis piernas respondieron después de haber renunciado y justo para el final.
Ahora viendo que llegué a cinco de ser el último en mi categoría me siento más orgulloso y parecerá loco, pero a esos cinco los pasé en los últimos kilómetros.
Llegué a nueve minutos de quedar fuera de clasificación. Lo logré.
