Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total needed is $575 (R10,000 ZAR).

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!

Astra Militarum, Death Korps of Krieg
10th Edition Index
The Death Korps of Krieg are awesome and funny because they are humans with a death-wish. You see, long ago they had a civil war where there was a large number of their population that turned to the service of Chaos.
Now they atone for their forefather's sins and retreat and surrender are not concepts they understand.
They are also really fond of shovels.... for digging trenches as well as thumping heretics.
They come in a Squad of 10 for 65pts or a squad of 20 for 130pts. A box of 10 costs $65.

Weapons
As usual, the Astra Militarum units come with a lot of options.
There is a Watchmaster in each unit. He comes standard with a Laspistol and a Chainsword but he can be armed with a Power Weapon instead which is a no-brainer.
The Watchmaster can go Las Pistol, Bolt Pistol, Boltgun or Plasma Pistol... Plasma Pistols are the no-brainer here.
As for the rest of the unit. For every 10 models in the Squad, you can have 2 special weapons as long as they are different, unless you have 20 models, then you can have 2 of one weapon or 2 of another... or four different weapons.
The Special Weapons are as follows:
- flamer
- grenade launcher
- meltagun
- sniper rifle
For every 10 models, one model can have either a vox-caster or a plasma gun. I think you could probably do 1x Plasmagun if you want 1x Vox in the unit. Vox-casters are handy.
One model in the unit can be equipped with a Death Korps Medi-pack.
Ranged Weapons
Las Pistol
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (It can be fired while in combat with the enemy)
Bolt Pistol
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (It can be fired while in combat with the enemy)
Plasma Pistol - regular shot option
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S7, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Pistol (It can be fired while in combat with the enemy)
Plasma Pistol - supercharge shot option
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S8, AP-3 and 2 Damage each.
Pistol (It can be fired while in combat with the enemy)
Hazardous (After using this weapon roll a dice, on a 1 the model takes 3 Mortal Wounds)
Lasgun
24" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Rapid Fire 1 (Gain an additional shot at half range of 12")
Plasma Gun - regular shot option
24" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S7, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.

Meltagun
12" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 3+, S9, AP-4 and D6 Damage each.
Melta 2 (When firing within half range of 6", add 2 to the damage roll)
Grenade Launcher - frag firing option
24" Range, D3 Shots, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Blast (1 Shot per 5 enemy models rounding down)
Grenade Launcher - krak firing option
24" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S9, AP-2 and D3 Damage each.
Sniper Rifle
36" Range, 1 Shot, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Heavy (When this unit remain stationary, get +1 to Hot rolls with this weapon)
Precision (When allocating wounds, you can allocate them to a Character even if the Bodyguard unit is not destroyed first.)
Melee Weapons
Close Combat Weapon
1 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Chainsword
4 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S3, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Power Weapon
3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP-2 and 1 Damage each.
Abilities
Grim Demeanour
When this squad is below starting strength (they lost at least 1 model) they get +1 to Hit rolls. When the unit is below half ( 4 of 10 in a 10 man or 9 of 20 in a 20 man unit), then add +1 to Wound rolls.
Wargear Abilities
Death Korps Medi-pack
At the start of your Command Phase, if the bearer's unit has lost models you can return D3 Troopers to the unit!
Vox Caster
When the bearer's unit is targeted by a Stratagem, roll a D6 and Add +1 is there is a friendly Officer within 6" of the unit. On 5+ gain 1 CP.
Thoughts
I think these guys are super cool. Cool looks, cool lore and hard hitting on the tabletop.
I mean, they cannot have Heavy Weapons squads but hitting on a 3+ all the time after losing 1 model is great for the other weapons. Then +1 to Wound right at the end before going out. Rules like this allow units to fight well amove their paygrade and make them quite powerful!
Awesome! I am looking forward to adding them to my collection one day as well as well as all the new Krieg minis coming next year!
