The Company is Growing
At the end of March 2029, the NeMo Trucking Software company had signed 18 new contracts with independent autonomous truck builders or distributors, in 15 provinces and states, and one big contract with Freightliner Trucks.
Most of the small customers of the NeMo company were buying hydrogen-powered trucks from Freightliner in the Millenium Class, namely model FMC-01H. They were mostly adding their own sensors and computer systems. Independent truckers liked to buy their trucks from local vendors because they knew they would be better supported whenever a problem occurs.
There were also some distributors of Freightliner Trucks that were installing NeMo software system as a replacement of the original one. This has been authorized by Freightliner Trucks.
Three or four bigger customers were buying truck chassis from Rivian and were adding their own cabins, sensors, displays, and computer systems.
Freightliner Trucks was only selling directly to their big customers which were buying a minimum of five trucks at a time. They already had their own self-driving system, but it was only certified level 3. With their contract with NeMo, they were now able to offer a level 4 certified system to their customers.
The company was growing. They were now nine. Except for Bianca and her assistant, they were all working on the code. Four of them were also truckers: Nestor, Moana, Paramvir, and Danny, a new recruit from California that Paramvir knew already.
Nestor had encouraged all the engineers to get their trucking license so that there were able to better understand what the customers and the truckers were talking about. Two of them, including Chen, were now taking driving lessons to get their license.
In 2028, because of the certification process, Nestor and Moana had not taken any vacations. They needed to rest, so they decided to go to Tahiti for 3 weeks in July, then for 5 weeks to France, to visit Nestor extended family.
And in September 2029, they were both invited at the Autonomous Truck Conference, organized by the European Certification Authority for Autonomous Vehicles (ECAAV), the equivalent of NAAVCA.
