When this challenge of completing the unfinished projects that we had been putting off since time immemorial began, eight weeks seemed like a lot of time, but now that we are in week 6 I feel like everything went by very quickly. Either way, true to my style of working well under pressure and with little time left, I'm sure I'll complete the other projects I set out to do for this community challenge. In the meantime, friends of Needle Work Monday, I share with you my second finished WIP and I hope you like it ❤️.
Cuando empezó este desafío de completar los proyectos inconclusos que veníamos postergando desde tiempos inmmemorables, ocho semanas me parecían un montón de tiempo, pero ahora que estamos en la semana 6 siento que todo pasó muy rápido. De cualquier forma, fiel a mi estilo de trabajar bien bajo presión y con poco tiempo por delante, estoy segura de que voy a completar los demás proyectos que me propuse hacer al principio. Mientras tanto, amigos de Needle Work Monday, comparto con ustedes mi segundo WIP terminado y espero que les guste ❤️.
I chose to do this project to take advantage of the embroidery I did in January of last year during my long stay in the hospital. In those days I made a series of patches for my friends, promising them that it would soon become gifts for them. The thing is, over a year and a half later, I hadn't completed all the projects and this was the perfect time to get down to business with this. In particular, this embroidery was for my friend Sofía and I finally managed to transform it into a cute ruffled cushion ❣️.
Elegí hacer este proyecto para aprovechar el bordado que hice en enero del año pasado durante mi larga estadía en el hospital. En esos días hice una serie de parches para mis amigos, prometiéndoles que pronto se transformaría en regalos para ellos. La cuestión es que, más de un año y medio después, no había completado todos los proyectos y esta ocasión fue perfecta para poner manos a la obra con esto. En particular, este bordado era para mi amiga Sofía y finalmente logré transformarlo en un lindo almohadón con volados ❣️.
For this project I don't have as many photos of the intermediate process because I literally did a little bit every day for every day of the past week. Now I'm working in the afternoon, so my sewing schedule is reduced during the night, so I spread the sewing tasks over all those days: one day I ironed the hems, another day I sewed them, another day I joined the front piece, another day I did the ruffle and finally sewed all the pieces together. The final result for having done everything in this way, not in a hurry, was a very neat and beautiful cover ❤️.
De este proyecto no tengo tantas fotos del proceso intermedio porque literalmente hice un poco cada día durante todos los días de la semana pasada. Ahora estoy trabajando por la tarde, así que mi horario de costura es reducido durante la noche, así que repartí las tareas de costura en todos esos días: un día planché los dobladillos, otro día los cosí, otro día uní la pieza del frente, otro día hice el volado y finalmente cosí todas las piezas juntas. El resultado final por haber hecho todo de este modo, no a las apuradas, fue una funda muy prolija y linda ❤️.
Regarding the cushion, what I like about this part is that I can take advantage of it to get rid of a few pieces of fabric. It's been over two years since my neighbor gave me a bag of cutouts and it's still halfway through, even though I make an effort to reduce the contents whenever I get the chance. I guess that means I still have more material to stuff pillows 😂.
Con respecto al almohadón, lo que me gusta de esta parte es que puedo aprovechar para deshacerme de unos cuantos retazos de tela. Han pasado más de dos años desde que mi vecina me regaló una bolsa con recortes y todavía está por la mitad, a pesar de que me esfuerzo por reducir el contenido cada vez que tengo la oportunidad. Supongo que eso significa que todavía tengo más material para rellenar almohadas 😂.
Finally, this is how the complete cushion was left. I swear it looks exactly like in my imagination: the combination of fabrics was appropriate and it was good that I had the fabric to ruffle around it because it gave it a very special touch. I'm glad it's late but sure, this project is finished at last ❤️.
Finalmente, así quedó el almohadón completo. Juro que se ve exactamente como en mi imaginación: la combinación de telas fue adecuada y que bueno que me alcanzó la tela para hacerle el volado alrededor porque le dió un toque muy especial. Me alegro que tarde pero seguro, este proyecto esté terminado al fin ❤️.
On the other hand, leaving a bit of what WIPs are and returning to my other great love, lingerie, I want to show you how another project I did some time ago looks like. It is the lace top with straps at the neckline that I sewed a while ago to share with you. I had loved this garment because it has a lot of lace fabric but it always seemed like a lot to wear as underwear, and a lot to wear just as a t-shirt, so I never wore it since I made it. But I found the solution to this when my cousin gave me a completely transparent tulle shirt and combining both garments, that's how it turned out and this was my outfit last Saturday. I think it was nice, although I still felt a little naked but just the right amount for a night out. What do you think? 😃
Por otro lado, saliendo un poco de lo que es los WIPs y volviendo a mi otro gran amor, la lencería, quiero mostrarles como queda puesto otro proyecto que hice hace algún tiempo. Se trata del top de encaje con tiras en el escote que cosí hace un tiempo para compartir con ustedes. Esta prenda me había encantado porque tiene mucha tela de encaje pero siempre me pareció un montón como para usarla de ropa interior, y un montón para usarla solo como remera, así que nunca lo usé desde que la hice. Pero encontré la solución a esto cuando mi prima me regaló una camiseta de tul completamente transparente y combinando ambas prendas, así quedó y este fue mi outfit del sábado pasado. Pienso que quedaba lindo, aunque igual me sentía un poco desnuda pero en la medida justa para una salida nocturna. ¿Qué les parece? 😃
All this week sewing was present in my life, which reaffirms more and more my taste and love for this job. Now I just have to focus on finishing my other sewing projects, I only have a week to dedicate to each one so it will be quite a challenge. I still have to decide what to do with my other embroidered patch and I have a large collection of doll outfits to make. I will have to organize myself well if I want to arrive with everything, considering my available time. But don't worry, because whatever it is, I'll be able to handle everything as usual 😅.
Toda esta semana la costura estuvo presente en mi vida, lo que reafirma más y más mi gusto y amor por este oficio. Ahora solo queda enfocarme en terminar mis otros proyectos de costura, solo tengo una semana para dedicarle a cada uno así que va a ser todo un reto. Aún me falta decidir que hacer con mi otro parche bordado y tengo una gran colección de outifts de muñecas para hacer. Tendré que organizarme bien si quiero llegar con todo, considerando mi tiempo disponible. Pero no se preocupen, porque sea como sea, voy a poder con todo como siempre 😅.
