If anyone were to ask me what would help anyone to learn foreign language faster, I’d say it’s through music. Through music, you can learn vocabularies and if you’re advanced enough, you can also learn their culture through it. How so? Because in music, they also contain some markers of identity from these artists and their cultural background. Once you listen enough, watched enough musical videos, you would notice there are subtle cultural references here and there. Today, I am introducing you to VTORNIK, a russian hip/hop rapper. I would say though, when it comes to Hip Hop/rap, Russian have interesting style. I’ve been listening them since I was in middle school. Eventually, I picked up a few words here and there just enough to read a bit Cyrillic and got me interested in it. Another one would be German hip hop/rap, they’re also on different level and the language sounds even more exotic and fun when you hear German hip hop/rap. Now, let me show you some of VTORNIK music. He has a very short collection and most of his listeners are obviously russian-speaking however there’s one music that got him somewhat famous worldwide.
VTORNIK
VTORNIK most famous music would be Money rain. If you are on instagram or tiktok, you might once stumbled upon his track. The famous one is the Phonk remix version. As you can see from his youtube page, the phonk remix was released a year ago. Although he released a few albums, these three stand out the most including the one I mentioned, Money Rain Phonk Remix
Money Rain Phonk Remix
This one has simple lyrics and pretty fun too, with classical mentioning of AK’s (Заряжаю, бля, АК. ) and my favorite one, "Иди нахуй, Monday" which means fuck you Monday 😀. I would say since the popularity of this song, that’s why there’s a lyric for us, non russian speaking ones. You can find the lyrics here [Текст песни «Money Rain (Phonk Remix)» ft. NaDDya] But the next one, there is no lyrics available with its translation 😂
+150к
I personally like the beat from this one.
Дела восток
The lyric can be found here Дела восток basically it has drugs, women, but there’s also a conversation with babushka too 😂 I mean, it’s certainly not literal meaning but I find it interesting that babushka got into the song.
I listened to his songs on soundcloud but I am leaving you the link to the youtube since that’s easier to play here. Hope it helps you discover something interesting to listen to. I know, it might be weird to listen to music where you probably don’t understand the lyrics but music is more than the lyrics, you can enjoy the beat too and maybe who knows, it intrigues you to understand the language. See you in my next Three Tunes Tuesday. Maybe I can write about Phonk next!
