Hello Hivers✌✌.
We are going to get the male sperm ready for fertilization. Before now the female catfish has been injected with the spawning hormone which will be ready for strippig withing 8hr to 10hr after the injection has been administered..
The next step is to prepare the male sperm for the fertilization process.
For this step we will need some items like;
- Saline solution
- Razor blade
- A big bowl etc.
The first step is to identify our male catfish we will be using for this project.
The male catfish has a more protruding genitiles that that of the female.
The male will be weighed on a scale
The males will be placed in a big bowl or a flat table which ever is convenient, to be bisected open. A wet towel should be kept over the head of the fish to hold it still.
This operation will be carried out using a sharp razor blade.
The bisection shouldn't be too deep so as not to cause injury to the internal organs.
When it is open, use your fingers to search for the sperm which is located at the bottom.
The male sperm consist of two sacks,
Normally one sack can be enough if it is fully matured.
For our case the sperm isn't full matured , so we will use the two sacks for this project..
The most important part of the male sperm is the whitish substance called the "Milt" it is what we see at the tip of the sperm sack.
When the sperm is found cut it will be out..
And it looks lime this..!!
It will now be rinsed with the saline solution thoroughly, to get rid of any blood or debris.
It will be kept is a safe place..
And it would be used within the next 15mins to fertilize the female eggs when it is been stripped so it will not be exposed for too long.
Normally, the male can be stitched back and it will survive but for our case, there is no need cause the two sacks are out, so the male will find itself in the pot of soup😉.!!
LoL..
