This weeks Battle Mage Challenge is about the Born Again rule.

Splinterlands tells us the following about the Born Again rule:
All units receive the Rebirth ability which allows them to self resurrect once.
Born Again is a rule that has a large impact on the battle. Evey monster is ressurected at least once, meaning that abilities such as Scavenger and Martyr are very effective. If it happens together with Noxious Fumes, all monsters will self-cleanse themselves of the poison when they resurrect. This is also a rule that has high potential for Bloodlust triggers.
The rule plays quite differently to other matches. It is generally much longer, meaning that support setups have more time to do their work. However, a resurrected unit cant attack in the round it resurrects, and so it is possible to prevent units from attacking if you can bring them down quickly the first time.
Both extremely offensive and defensive strategies are good for this rule.

Incompatible Rules
Born Again is compatible with all other rules.

Desirable Abilities

Martyr Bloodlust Scavenger
Martyr is awesome for the Born Again rule because you will get the buff twice. This can be very powerful, expecially combined with Dual Strike or mixed attack type monsters. Bloodlust has potential to bring a monster completely out of control since there are many more chances to trigger the Bloodlust ability. Finally, since there is twice as many monster deaths as usual, Scavenger brings in twice the amount of health. Over the coarse of a battle, this can add up to a great deal of health.

Advantaged/Disadvantaged Summoners
As far as I can tell there is no particular summoner that has any advantage or disadvantage in this rule.

Desirable Monsters

Disadvantaged Monsters
Runi already has Rebirth, and gain nothing from this rule.

My Lineup
I went for an Immortalis lineup with Mycelic Slipspawn in the backline (standard, good protection against heavy hits with Forcefield), and Queen Mycelia to keep it alive for a little longer. My offensive capabilities were focused around Grund with his 4 damage Double Strike. Finally, I added two Heal monsters, Pelacor Mercenary and Bramble Pixie. They have decent damage and good durability, and can restore themselves from the 1 health they are resurrected with from Rebirth.
Opponent's Lineup
My opponent went for a heavy frontline and a magic attacker backline. Both Mantaroth and Grimbardun Smith were included. However, three of his 6 monsters a low health and will die quickly. We will see if this is effective against my setup.

Battle progress and Result
My units have the higher speed, and start by attacking Queen Mycelia who is the lowest health unit. She ressurects, but Grund quickly deals another blow to finish her off for good. Afterwards, it is my opponents turn to do some damage, and most of his hits go into the Mycelic Slipspawn. After all the hits are done, both it and Queen Mycelia are left with 1 health.
In Round 2, my Bramble Pixie and Slipspawn deal with the Lurking Puffer, and Grund deals 8 damage to Arkemis before Trample lets him deal a strike to Mantaroth aswell. My Fungus Fiend deals the final blow to the resurrected Arkemis, and now Mantaroth is the new frontline unit. My Queen Mycelia restores a bit of health to the Mycelic Slipspawn with Triage, which is great because now it will survive the incoming magic hits. When Mantaroth strikes, I am lucky to get a Retaliate trigger from Pelacor Mercenary.
Since my lineup still has its full damage, I am now able to take down Mantaroth (it ressurects) and since it was Grund that dealt the killing blow he also kills the Moxian Rebel (another resurrect). Obviously, there is now no way for me to lose this battle. Even so, Grimbardun Smith puts up a good fight, and lasts until round 6.
