My Favorite Movie
“We love films because they makes us feel something. They speak to our desires, which are never small. They allow us to escape and to dream and to gaze into the eyes that are impossibly beautiful and huge. They fill us with longing. But also. They tell us to remember; they remind us of life. Remember, they say, how much it hurts to have your heart broken.”
~Nina LaCour
Movies have always fascinated me. I always found super intriguing how the film makers would tell complex story lines and make them soo captivating that the perception of time passage itself would actually cease.
But I wouldn't really call myself a movie type of person, I of course do enjoy them, but I also happen to criticize them. I will always choose a book.
I love the freedom to explore different perspectives when it comes to envisioning the world created by the writer, while as in a movie it is kind of restricted to the perspective of the creators.
The other reason I would choose a book over a movie is the adequate information present in books but otherwise absent in movies, since the creators have to time and budget restrictions and therefore modifications on the content to showcase are modified to fit the budget and time limit.

But despite my criticism on movies, I love the art of their creation and it is a dream of mine to create short films to help raise awareness on mental health issues many face in the current society.
Lately my preference on movies has shifted from purely fun to watch movies to this movies that leave you wondering what the creators really intended you to really learn from the whole experience.
In a way my perspective has shifted to a more philosophical one, always looking out for that subtle message many are likely to miss, not for the fact that many are likely to miss it but for the fact that those hidden messages shed light on our nature as human beings, the nature of our existence, try to explain matters such as nihilism and existential crisis, and soo much more.
I am no longer interested in watching something for the sake of just watching, of course there will be such times when I just need to watch something totally random, but we all need a break and sometimes just a pure laugh.
The Matrix
This happens to be my favorite movie. Prior to this, I really didn't have a favorite movie per say. Despite watching soo many titles over the years none of them had such a profound effect on me as The Matrix.

I definitely joined in the party pretty late, but in my defence I thought it was too overrated before watching it. Most of my friends were talking about it, and in trying to avoid the herd morality when it comes to movies and books to read I tend to follow my desires without much outside influence.
This was beyond my expectations though, it had profound influence on my perspective and made me realize somethings I could not have simply perceived. The fun to me is the fact nothing is straight forward, for you to find the meanings you have to dig somewhat deeper than the top level layer.
I am still not sure I fully comprehend all the subtle lessons and messages from the movie. No other movie has ever had such a profound influence on my mindset and way of thinking....
Still on the journey.....
This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill — the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill — you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
